Filtermist welcomes new Chinese Business Development Manager to UK HQ

Filtermist was delighted to welcome new Business Development Manager for China, Carl Yu, to the Company’s UK HQ today for two weeks of product and technical training on our oil mist collector units.

Despite having sold oil mist collectors in to China for more than 15 years, Chinese national Carl Yu is Filtermist’s first direct employee in the country and has been appointed as a direct result of a steady increase in year on year sales.

Filtermist International’s Managing Director, James Stansfield, says, “Carl will be working closely with our existing distributors to assist with training, technical help and marketing to help grow awareness of the Filtermist brand amongst both Chinese manufacturers and overseas brands with production operations in the country.”

China is Filtermist’s second largest export market after North America - sales grew by a staggering 65% in 2012-13 compared with the previous year’s figures, and this year to date has witnessed 20% year on year growth.

Filtermist has recently invested significant resources into further growing sales – a dedicated Chinese website, filtermist.cn, was launched earlier this year and James Stansfield supported the Company’s Chinese distributor, En Creative, with attendance at the China CNC Machine Tool Fair (CCMT) in Shanghai in February.

Carl’s appointment is further evidence of Filtermist’s commitment to growing its business in this high-growth region, as more and more local manufacturers are recognising the value of investing in robust, UK built products.

James continues, “China offers significant potential for Filtermist and we are very excited about the prospect of working closely with Carl to make sure we can maximise all opportunities.”

Carl will be based in Filtermist’s new office in Shanghai which it shares with Swedish sister company, Absolent. He brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously worked in similar positions for other international organisations.

His induction to Filtermist will also include visits to some of the Company’s local customers so he can see Filtermist oil mist collectors in working industrial environments, as well as visits to some of the local region’s key attractions including World Heritage Site, Ironbridge.
