MTD CNC recently visited Diamond Precision Engineering in Birkenhead and spoke to Engineer Harry Pitt about the company’s decision to include Filtermist oil mist filters on two new Nakamura machines:

“We’ve recently purchased two Nakamura-Tome machines which were both fitted with Filtermist units as over the last couple of years we’ve been really working on improving our coolant, how we manage it and all of the health aspects.

“We really wanted the Filtermists to help our guys and keep the fog away from the machines. As the chuck’s spinning it’s creating a lot of fog from the coolant - the centrifugal technology in the Filtermist sucks up the fog and separates out the oil, removing it so we’re not all breathing it in and getting it all around the workshop. It’s great for our health and the quality of the machine.

“You’ve got to have these now, to look after the health and safety of your guys. We really look after our coolant now to make sure it’s safe – it’s tested at a lab every month and it’s tested weekly by us.

“Our guys are really important to us – it’s hard to get good guys, so we need to look after them. The Filtermist removes that fog, removes that health and safety issue, and makes it a nicer environment to work in.”
