Filtermist recently accompanied video marketing agency MTD CNC to GW Martin Precision Manufacturing’s UK production site to find out why the company chose Filtermist oil mist collectors for a variety of its machine tools, including models from Mazak and Miyano.

Managing Director Stuart Yalden told Tom Skubula that the company likes to keep its client base diverse and currently works in the medical sector, vacuum filtration and other commercial sectors, as well as supplying to the defence industry. Tom mentioned that the company must work with a range of exotic materials which generate oil mist when being machined and asked Stuart why GW Martin chose Filtermist oil mist filters over other products in the market.
Stuart replied, “When we were running in the 1970s this was a very different environment. Over the last ten years we’ve had quite a big programme of reinvesting in the business. We’ve bought a lot of new machines, and we’ve updated and changed the workshop and the sort of business that we have here. As part of that we put in new lighting, new machines and even solar panels on the brand-new roof that we put in last year.
“What we didn’t want was the traditional 1970s oily workshop. It was pretty critical to us to make sure that we did something to deal with any mist and any oil that came out of the machines and we put in a system that was very good at handling that.”
