“We make the most complicate components we can,” Neil Stockwell from UK company Leemark Engineering told MTD CNC recently. “It keeps us competitive and keeps us in the right marketplace.”

Leemark Engineering specialises in precision engineered components for the aerospace industry using plant including 5 axis machines from Matsuura and CMZ lathes.
Rowan from MTD questioned Neil about the changes in engineering since the company was first established, to which Neil replied, “Yes, my Dad started this company back in 1967 when engineering was quite a dirty environment. Now, the focus is on metal-cutting fluids to make sure they’re maintained and looked after. And our staff demand, as they should do, that we meet all of the health and safety requirements.”
When asked what the company has done to improve over time, Neil said, “The first thing we did was make sure that every machine has got a Filtermist on it. That extraction of the mist is absolutely integral – we’ve got to look after our staff. We think it’s really important that they’re looked after and not exposed to any metal cutting fumes.
“Filtermist is a known brand, they (the units) are very robust, and they do what they say they do.”
