Hertool S.A. de C.V., Filtermist’s Mexican distributor, has recently completed an installation for Wyman-Gordon at its Monterrey machining house.

Twenty-two Filtermist FX6002 oil mist collectors have been installed on Okuma machining centres to effectively remove oil mist inside the machines’ enclosures following reports of unnecessary downtime. Hertool’s Supply Chain Manager, Luis Lince, elaborates, “Hertool has worked with Wyman in Monterrey for more than 10 years. They had previously used Filtermist units which were supplied on machine tools bought from the US so already knew that they are effective.

“The customer had taken delivery of some machines that weren’t fitted with extraction so contacted Hertool shortly after we were appointed as Filtermist’s distributor in Mexico. They were experiencing issues with oil mist build up inside the machine cabinets – when the cutting cycle finished and the operator opened the machine door, oil mist was escaping. This was not pleasant for the machine operator, so they had to wait before opening the door meaning each cycle was taking longer than it should.”

Hertool visited the facility with one of Filtermist’s international account managers and shortly afterwards Wyman placed the order for the FX6002 units. Most of the compact, centrifugal oil mist collectors have been mounted on wall brackets meaning they do not take up valuable floor space.

“The customer is very pleased with the result,” continues Luis. “The oil mist extraction means that the machine operator can now open the cabinet door as soon as the cycle has finished, knowing that they won’t be exposed to hazardous oil mist particles. This has considerably speeded up production and the customer has advised that he would recommend Filtermist units to any manufacturers experiencing production issues as a result of oil mist pollution.”

As well as supplying the Filtermist units, Hertool also regularly visits Wyman’s Monterrey plant to check the extraction is performing as intended. “We offer customers ongoing support so they can be sure that the air in their facilities stays clean,” says Luis. “Protecting workers’ health is common sense, but also makes good business sense. A healthy workforce is a productive workforce.”
