This month marks ten years since Filtermist was acquired by the Swedish Absolent Group AB.
At the time, Filtermist was operating from its facility in Bridgnoth, Shropshire where it was originally established in 1969. Filtermist was the first company to be acquired by Absolent Group, which also owned premium air filters manufacturer Absolent AB. A further six acquisitions of ‘clean air’ companies have been completed by Absolent Group since the 2010 Filtermist deal.
Already a market leader in oil mist filtration and exporting to over 50 countries worldwide, the backing of Absolent Group has enabled Filtermist to grow and expand at a phenomenal rate. The acquisition sparked a number of significant changes, including the appointment of James Stansfield as MD in 2012 and relocation to a state-of-the-art, purpose-built HQ in Telford in 2015.
Employees - Grown from 33 in 2010 to over 250 across the UK in 2020. Filtermist also employs salespeople in Germany, India, China and Singapore.
Location – Now operating from six locations - two sites in Telford, one in Scotland, two in Yorkshire and one in Northampton. It also operates registered businesses in India, Shanghai and Singapore, and is directly responsible for fellow Absolent Group company Bristol T&G International GmbH.
Acquisitions and growth – Filtermist started its own acquisition campaign in 2016. Over the last four years Filtermist has acquired ten companies in six deals, and now manufactures six other product brands from its UK locations. Three additional asset purchase agreements have also been completed in this time.
Investments – Significant investments in plant, facilities, technology and, most importantly, in upskilling its employees, means Filtermist has been able to secure contracts with large multi-national organisations operating in a range of industries including automotive, aerospace, food production, pharmaceuticals and woodworking.
Leaders in Industrial Clean Air – Filtermist, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, is a specialist manufacturer of oil mist control and extraction equipment. It has now expanded into Dust Extraction with its Dustcheck brand, Ducting with its FastClip brand, Spray Booth and Industrial Oven manufacture from its Gallito brand and Industrial Vacuums from the Kerstar brand.
